A day trip to Rio Celeste involves a pleasant, yet somewhat challenging, hike through the cool rainforest scenery of the beautiful Tenorio Volcano National Park. The hike is about 3 km in one direction before you reach the amazing electric blue Rio Celeste Waterfall. Take some time here to enjoy the beauty of this gorgeous cascading water crashing into the baby blue swimming hole below.
The lush green tropical surroundings top off one of the most aesthetically pleasing views in all of Costa Rica. This chemical reaction is caused by minerals supplied by the Tenorio Volcano. Pictures don’t do this phenomenon justice.
There are several other trails to do more exploring if time permits. Some operators will give you the option to pay extra to swim at a different waterfall to cool off and relax.
