“Made everything so much easier!”
My family and I were in Costa Rica for 50 days in April-June, much of that time spent with a “home base” in Samara. Brenda helped us with several mini-trips around the country while we were there, arranging everything from transportation to accommodations, including 2 trips to Arenal, a trip from Arenal to Monte Verde, and a trip up to a resort near Papagayo. For the last few weeks of our trip we weren’t in Samara but were still able to use Brenda to arrange all of our transportation between our various points of interest, it was fantastic every time and really took a lot of the stress of traveling off of us. My father also flew in for a week while we were there and Brenda helped us arrange his transportation from the airport to where we were at the time. Made everything a lot easier. Thanks!
“This info service is the way to plan a trip!”
I came to Samara for the first time in July/August to teach, and I knew nothing about this gorgeous place. I happened upon the Samara and Carrillo Info Center, met Christopher, and my time here was made so much more interesting and meaningful; Christopher showed me great places to visit, amazing restaurants, and even took care of all of my travel arrangements to Monteverde after my time here! I see great value in taking advantage of the Info Center’s services before even coming to this country. Contact them and see how they can make your trip to Samara / Carrillo more fun; these are great folks to work with!
“Great information”
Brenda was beyond helpful providing local day trips and a multitude of other information. She is extremely knowledgeable of the attractions available and will book or research any adventure/transportation/hotel, etc.. We plan on using her and her husbands service to book our next trip to CR!
“Very helpful information service”
We used the info centre to book an onward shuttle bus service and to book a hotel. The advice from Christopher was excellent – complete, accurate and informative. This meant we had complete faith in him. Better still, he is such a friendly chap you end up talking to him to ages! We left the booking quite late, but Christopher was emailing advice to us at 1am in the morning and then came to meet us on Sunday to give us the tickets, which was his day off. What great service!
“Samara & Carillo Info Center”
My wife and I recently spent a splendidly rejuvenating two weeks in Costa Rica, with our base in the village of Samara. Brenda and Christopher were our sources for many various questions we had both in our trip planning and throughout our stay. Helpful, fair, personable, professional, experienced, and informative are adjectives that may help the reader with our impression of the Info Center services. You both made us feel at home as you helped us plan and book our various adventures. See you next time! We can hardly wait. Al Paddison
“Incredibly helpful even if not going to Samara”
I came across the Samara and Carillo info centre by chance when I was struggling to plan a two week trip around Costa Rica after volunteering at a turtle reserve at Pacuare for the first two weeks of my trip. I wanted to travel around Costa Rica on my own however I had never planned anything like this before and was looking at the advice from other travellers and just getting more and more confused and indecisive – what if I went all the way to Costa Rica (from Scotland) and missed the best thing ever by going to the wrong place – or just wrong for me and my interests!! After Posting my dilemma on Trip Advisor, Brenda from the Samara info Centre contacted me to suggest she could help with an intinerary. I was initially reluctant as I thought it would cost me (I’m mean! ) and I may end up with a list of things and places that weren’t really tailored to me and I was also a bit vague (and still indecisive!) – but Brenda and the Info Centre were absolutely fantastic – they asked all the right questions to find out what exactly I would want to do and the kind of accommodation that I wanted – and came up with fantastic suggestions. I felt in total control but with guidance from what seemed like, by the time I got to Costa Rica – from a good friend. In the planning none of my (sometimes daft) questions were too much trouble and I usually got a reply within hours – even though it would have been the evening in Costa Rica. By the time of my visit it was all organised and they were still at hand to sort out any glitches and put my mind at ease. I went to Monteverde, Arenal and Samara and each place was perfect for me in their own way. I had an amazing mixture of adventure (zip lining including the superman pose!) and incredible wildlife tours and also tips from them on places I could get to without paying pricey tour fees. I popped in to see Brenda and Chris, her lovely husband, when I went to Samara and again they arranged a different trip when the one I was meant to go was cancelled. Nothing was left to chance and their immense help made me feel that there was someone I could turn to if anything at all went wrong in Costa Rica – which was doubly important for me as a lone – and very inexperienced woman traveller. I will be returning next year and will definitely be contacting the Samara and Carillo info centre to help organise my trip.
“Samara Info Centre”
The staff members were very helpful, knowledgeable and informative of our interests. They spoke good English as well as seemed to be fluent in Spanish. They did not try to sell you on anything, just made suggestions based on your questions. It was a pleasure talking to them.
“Best Information Center on the Planet!!!”
Brenda and Christoper have their heart in the info business! This is the best stop for information on what to do in Costa Rica whether in or around Samara or beyond. The best thing about the experience here is that they care that you find great experiences and are very helpful. They are not just trying to see you a tour. One of their new and innovative additions is the Samara discount bracelet. Make sure to pick one up. They now have magnets and bumper stickers and they are adding I love Samara shirts. Make sure to make this your first stop. They are the first info center coming into town on the right. Next to the Laundry! Also, when you stop there pay your departure tax. You can pay this anytime and will shorten your time at the airport. Such a great service to add to all of their offerings. Pura Vida!
“Countless thanks”
My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Brenda & Christopher on our 25th anniversary trip. We are fairly adventurous people and have traveled quite a bit, but finding these knowledgable, kind & decent people was a real highlight of our experience. Their support, helpfulness and superb driving directions were terrific. We recommend them without reservation, & encourage anyone to take advantage of their services.
“The name says it all!”
Both Brenda and Christopher were so helpful. We stayed in samara for 5 months and they helped us find everything we needed. Very knowledgable. I wish each town had a copy of them!
“Helpful and honest advice”
Brenda was very helpful in answering all of my questions about hotels and activities in Playa Samara. She also helped me book a great shuttle to the Arenal area. Definitely get in touch with the Center if you are visiting the Samara/Carrillo area!
“Wonderful info center”
Many thanks brenda and chris for all your help during our month in samara. It was so nice to finally meet you. You were so helpful with pre-trip questions and suggestions and with booking tours and transfers. Thank you for distributing the supplies to the school that we brought. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation in samara. Pura vida – saludos
“Anything you might want to know is here!”
My wife and I spent some time in Costa Rica this winter and were based in Samara. Any time we decided to take a trip somewhere or even get transportation we let the Info Center in Samara do ALL the work. Brenda and Chris were fantastic. They seem to know everything about everything. I cannot recall one question they could not answer or one problem they could not solve for us—in no time at all. Both can speak English (Chris is a Canadian) and have an incredible knowledge of everything there is to do in Costa Rica. They will organize any tour for you on the spot, make all the phone calls and take payment. So if you ever go to Samara or anywhere near, this is a must. Jan and Barry from Manitoba, Canada
“Every tourist town should have a Brenda!”
We unfortunately never stopped by the Info Center when we were in Samara last week, because we didn’t need to! Brenda had already helped me with everything I had asked for, promptly, cheerily and in impeccable English. I feel bad about not saying thanks in person, so here I am, writing my first TA review. Brenda assisted with getting us private transportation from the Alajuela area to Samara and from Samara to Liberia; she also booked two tours for us and would have done far more had I asked her to. I wish every tourist town employed someone like her. Next time I’m in Samara, Brenda, I will make time to thank you in person!
“Brenda & Christopher Rock!”
I can’t say enough about how helpful these people were. We arrived in Samara mid Nov for our first winter away from home. When we arrived, we hadn’t met very many people that spoke English, but one couple in our condo unit (who became friends) told us about the Info Center and how much help Brenda and Christopher would be. So we went there the next day to inquire about various tours, etc, but they were also a wealth of information on things not related to tours, accommodations, restaurants, etc. One great example is: when my husband and I were coming up close to our 90 days and needed to leave the country, I called Brenda and she arranged everything for us to take a trip to Nicaragua and share the cost with several other people. We booked all of our own tours with them and made sure that all the guests we had visiting us went to see them as well. It costs nothing for the information they give, so please book everything possible through Samara & Carrillo Info Centre. Cheers, Nat their websited is: www.samarainfocenter.com or www.carrilloinfocenter.com
“Extremely helpful”
We used the info centre to book a cab from the airport and due to our own error we messed up the dates. When we realized this, and frantically emailed them they were still extremely helpful giving us advise on how to get to Samara. We booked a tour through them and stopped in multiple times for help with buses etc. They are willing to help with anything and everything. I overhead them telling others in the shop if they have problems with the taxi to have the cab driver call them to translate. When we told them we were vegetarians they told us a list of places to eat. You also get a discount at tons of local restaurants if you show them their business card. Highly recommend stopping in even if you aren’t planning on booking tours… They have tons of information and resources helpful to all travelers.
“Personal Concierge in Costa Rica”
Can’t say enough of how lucky we were to find Brenda at the Samara & Carrillo Info Center. I can honestly say that without her help, I would not have made the trip to Samara. See – I knew very little about Costa Rica before I booked my trip. What convinced me and my wife to make the trip to the secret town of Samara was the reviews I read about the Samara & Carrillo Info Center on Trip Advisor and all the assistance we received from Brenda. She helped arrange for transportation, lodging and made recommendations for tours and restaurants during our stay. I traveled with my parents, wife and 2 young daughters. Brenda helped us with our special requests during our entire stay. If you are like me and are reviewing if you should make the trip – connect with Brenda! Thank you Brenda for your assistance. We had a wonderful time in Samara and we really wouldn’t have made this trip if it wasn’t for all the helpful advice you provided. We’ll come back soon. Pura Vida!
“Wonderful people!!”
if visiting Playa Samara area you MUST follow the info centre. For months I planned my vacation and followed the site which is an absoulote wealth of information. Brenda and hubby LOVE costa rica. They will help you with whatever you need. She set me up with the greatest ATV tour… check them out … trailboss ATV. Great advice. it’s free but you know how life works. Give them a play. Book with them. They can help you in any kind of situation.
“1st Stop in Samara and Carrillo!”
Christoper and Brenda are the Best resource of Information, available 7 days and willing to share their knowledge of this beautiful part of the Nicoya coast. With their great location, 1st block on the right as you enter town, it is a must stop. They answered all of our questions and greatly enhanced our stay! Thanks so Much!
“Wedding Planner Extraordinare”
I held my wedding in Samara on March 3rd. What an amazing place. I started planning about 6 months ago and Brenda was amazing. Everything I needed she helped me with. She got me in contact with Joannie at Princessa Bakery who made an amazing cake. She also sent me to my photographer Simon. My wedding was amazing and I couldn’t have done it without Brenda’s help. Thank you!!
“Friendliest, most helpful info centre ever”
I don’t have enough nice words for Brenda and Chris at the Samara/Carillo info centre. From prior to leaving, until the end of our stay, Brenda and Chris offered us great advice and made so many travel decisions easier for us. From booking our ride from the airport, to figuring out day trips for a family ages 4 to 70, their advice was sound and made our trip so smooth. If you are going to Samara and don’t pop in to meet these two, you are missing out. Thank you both again.
“Helpful source of information”
Even before we arrived in Samara, we were advised to join the Info Center Facebook page and to check out their web-page. Brenda and Chris are friendly, patient, and helpful. They recommended restaurants and booked several tours for us during our stay. They kept us informed of upcoming tours and with their help, we were able to check off every item on our wish list!
“Best connection in Costa Rica!”
A friend suggest I contact Brenda and Chris at the Samara Info Centre. What a great resource! Via their online chat, they rented a car for us, suggested accommodations, answered many general questions I had about Costa Rica. They were so helpful! I highly recommend to anyone planning a trip to Costa Rica to connect with Samara Info Centre. They are very knowledgeable out the country and very eager to help. Visit https://samarainfocenter.com
“Great service”
This info center went out of its way to make my stay in Samara a great one. Brenda and Christopher were great as they provide good info, reliable and fair assessments of local shops and services, and went way out of their way to help with travel arrangements involving private and shared taxis, busses and bicycles… I highly recommend looking them up for your travel planning and for local tips when you get to Samara. If it matters to you, they are fully bilingual.
“Amazingly helpful”
Christopher and Brenda are an amazing gift to travellers in Samara-Carrillo and the rest of Costa Rica. They are quick to help and follow up on your every need, from recommending and booking hotels, taxis, sailing trips, to booking meetings with the local notary. Their knowledgable and professional (fluent English/Spanish) service takes so much potential stress out of travel/vacation plans. I have no idea how they do this all for free, which makes them even more of a gift. Thank you both so much!!!!
“Best source of information about Samara”
The Samara & Carrillo Info Center is indespensible for anyone who lives in or visits Samara or Carillo. The website is packed with useful information, their facebook page keeps you informed about special deals in the restaurants and bars, concerts and events and to cap it all Brenda and Chris are always available to answer any questions either by visiting the center in the heart of Samara or by telephone. Great service, great people. Thank you!
“Such good service had to write review 2 years later”
My wife and I were talking about how much we miss samara in the dead of winter. Then we started talking about how great the info center was. Then realized we didn’t write a review two years later. Enough said. The date won’t let me go back that far but were there February 2012.
“Excellent source”
Brenda and Chris were absolutely awesome. Don’t skip a stop here. They helped us connect with the baby turtle release, and organized my sister’s zip-lining. Even helping re-schedule when she was ill. Then after I got home, discovered I had lost my camera, Brenda was again a great source of help. They really go out of their way for you and are so nice and helpful. Playa Samara is very blessed to have them. Thanks for everything Brenda and Chris! From, “the other Brenda”
“Awesome resource, plenty of info & good deals”
Brenda and Chris were awesome and helped us get our bearings during our stay in Samara. They have well organized binders full of info on local places to stay, restaurants, shops, grocery stores, activities and even ferry schedules for the far-away ferries to Puntarenas. They provide phone numbers to contact them for any questions you may have, whether you are in Samara, Panama, Nicaragua, jail or wherever! They even have a savings card for local bars & restaurants that you can get for free and use for discounts or free stuff (2×1, etc.). While we were there, they arranged a car rental with their corporate rate for the Alamo office across the street and we saved big, the Alamo guy even said so. Thanks guys, you definitely made our stay even more enjoyable.
“So helpful”
This couple runs the info center right down the street from the beach. They are in a convenient location, though their store front is quite small and easy to miss. They are soooooo nice and personable. Speak perfect English form the US and Canada I think. They helped me activate my phone after buying a Claro card, get a bus to Panama, get info for local tours. If they dont know something they will find out. It is not necessary to do all your trip planning on your own, they are there, just relax and enjoy the Pura Vida.
“AMAZING People!!!”
Brenda and Chris are essentially a free concierge. They know everything about Samara and the surrounding area. Want to schedule a taxi to take you to and from the airport? Done. Need a massage? Booked. I don’t have a car, how do I get to this other place I want to go to? Problem solved. ANYTHING you want to know or want to do, they can and will happily help you with. My boyfriend and I wanted to go on a deep sea fishing trip, but it was too expensive for just the two of us. We mentioned this to Brenda and Chris and they said a guy had been in earlier that week in a similar situation who “wanted to go fishing as much as possible” during his 3 month trip. So Brenda and Chris hooked us all up and the three of us went on a half day trip that turned into a six hour trip. Why so long? We caught a fish THIS BIG!
“Amazing Resource for Free”
If you’re planning to visit Costa Rica – then definitely contact Samara Info Center. They eagerly assist anyone with travel plans, questions, referrals and information on anything that is going on in Costa Rica. They are a free service that can help you with booking and they give you honest information about hotels, tours etc. When you chat with them – tell them that Rayna Says hello!
“The BEST!”
Brenda and Chris literally make it possible to have the smoothest vacation ever. They will do anything from book a fishing trip to write on a piece of paper so you can get help from the pharmacy. They have a plethora of information to cater to almost ay and every need you will have wile in Samara. If you go this is a MUST first stop.
“Free, plentiful and accurate info”
Chris and Brenda provide a great service to those who are fortunate enough to visit this great place. Almost everything you are looking for, they know where it is. If they don’t, they know how to find out quickly. I felt guilty about using their service and not paying anything so I went back a couple of days later to see I I could donate even a couple thousand colones. Nope. Being a blunt person, I asked how they monetized the operation. They have a website ( samarainfocenter.com ) where the various hotels etc pay to place their ads. A great place to get further info. Since I couldn’t pay for the valuable help I received, I put a couple thousand into the school clothing/books can. This is a “Don’t miss them” place when in Samara. On Main Street on the right as you come into town.
“Great advice”
Brenda is extremely attentive. She knows everything you could want to know about the area. She will book all reservations for you, give you maps and anything else you can think of. Best info center in Samara.
“Best travel advisors for Costa Rica!”
Brenda and Chris were so helpful! We didn’t discover their website until a few weeks before our trip and they were always very prompt about answering our many email inquiries. Also while we were in Samara for 2 weeks, we had a number of questions and we either sent emails or dropped in a few times to discuss things. They had some great tour ideas for a family with 2 adventurous teens, so we had a day zip-lining with Miss Sky and another day exploring in Tomcars with Howling Monkeys. Both tours were in Nosara, but it only took us 45 minutes to do the scenic drive and Playa Guiones near Nosara was one of the best beaches we went to. They also booked a nice boat tour for us to see some dolphins & turtles and then we had a stop to snorkel at Isla Chora. They had some great beach and restaurant suggestions as well. We plan to return to Samara and will definitely be in touch for itinerary suggestions.
“Brenda is A #1”
I seldom put reviews on Trip Advisor, and adding another glowing review for Brenda and Chris seems like overkill. However the service that Brenda provided for this trip, our first to Costa Rica, was extraordinary and warrants a comment. Prior to our arrival she handled our numerous enquiries with efficiency and thoroughness. Once in CR, she was called upon to straighten out a couple of snafus (not her fault). One of these was after hours, our hotel contacted her by cell phone, and the problem was solved. When we showed up in her office she greeted us like BFFs. My advice…contact her if you are going to that region. You will not be disappointed.
“Fantastic”
Brenda and Chris could not have been nicer, more professional, or more helpful. Brenda suggested the best places for exactly the activities and price ranges we were looking for, and she has traveled to so many of these places herself, she really knew her stuff! She was such an expert, we just handed it all over to her and she planned & booked everything for us, made sure we got all the forms we needed, confirmed and double confirmed everything, etc. It was one of the best and most well orchestrated vacations I’ve ever been on and it’s completely thanks to her & Chris. Can’t recommend them highly enough!
“The Best”
I have just recommended Samara Carillo Info Center to a gentleman who’s always wanted to go. They surpass the word service with a smile. Chris and Brenda always have a warm smile and heart to go with it. You could not be in better hands. Many times Brenda and Chris have taken care of problem for me above and beyond my needs. I miss them but will always remember Brenda’s laugh and Chris’s quick wit.
“Last Minute – One stop shopping”
I booked a last minute flight to Liberia for a family of 4 with nowhere to stay. My wife stumbled upon glowing reviews of Brenda on TripAdvisor. Brenda did not disappoint and organized a great vacation for us!! Brenda – Found the ideal hotel for our Family of 4 with young children – Villa’s Kalimba. Booked our Airport Shuttle from Liberia to Samara (with a great -charismatic – well informed driver ,Rodrigo who was awesome). Rodrigo also picked us up at 3am for the return flight. Booked our car rental with a discount. We also flashed the Info Center card at a couple of restaurants for a 10% discount. Most importantly Brenda and Chris were able to give us straight forward advice on all of the local vistas etc. and they really seem to genuinely enjoy giving people the best vacation possible.
“110%”
Both Christopher and Brenda are personable and friendly and went out of their way to make sure needs were met. Without hesitation, Brenda researched and put me into contract with guides outside of her normal circle of referrals to better meet my needs. When plans for one activity did not fall into place they were there to help us with inquiries and alternate activity arrangements. If you’re visiting the Samara area I highly recommend their services.
“A total must !”
Here with Brenda & Chris you will get every info you need about what’s going on in Sámara & around. They helped us regarding all kinds of questions. All info is concentrated in this little place. They also do bookings for you etc. I donated a few things I didn’t use anymore: Brenda arranges that these go to the right people… Gee, I hope I will be back some time. Thks so much. (Hans J. Oechler & Kathrin H.)
“Awesome Wealth of Information / Travel Coordination”
I met up with Brenda via a Living Social Deal to book my activities initially. Then between the time i booked and the time i traveled, Brenda became so much more. She basically coordinated all aspects of our vacation from transportation to and from the airport / activities / things to do / bus schedules/ EVERYTHING! Whenever i had a question about anything, Brenda and the crew and the info center were there to help! Brenda even arranged to have our shuttle equipped with a cooler full of beer and wine for the 2 hour trip from the airport. I cannot say enough good things about Brenda and the crew at the info center. I am super glad to say that i met Brenda and was able to have such a fantastic experience thanks to her and the info center!!
“Helpful before and during the trip”
Brenda arranged for our shuttle from the Monteverde area to Samara. The drivers were on time, courteous, and the trip went off without a hitch. While in Samara, we decided to rent a car and stopped by the office to ask Brenda about car pricing, the location of fuels, roads to avoid, etc. She was extremely helpful, and this made our rental experience much more satisfying. I highly recommend this agency if you are headed in the direction of Samara.
“Just wonderful”
I stopped in to get a bit of information and the help was wonderful. The staff took time to sit down with me to explain culture and diretions. this is a must see if you are in the area and want to travel and sight see. I wonder how they do earn some money other than the small gift shop in the center?
“Wonderful people full of helpful info”
We were staying in Carrillo and stopped into the info center to find out about an overnight trip to Monteverde. We were so lucky to meet Brenda there. She is lovely and amazingly helpful. She helped us decide on tours suited to our family and then helped us find a place to stay. She even made all the reservations for us. It was so easy! I would recommend anyone staying in the area to stop by and talk to Brenda. Thanks again for helping to make our tip so memorable.
“Super service”
Was the last day on our holiday in samara and we were returning to san jose. I was looking for something to spend the last day there. Brenda helped us to find something and took care of everything. She even phoned us in our hotel in san jose to inform us about a change in the tour, this is what i call service. Especiall as you know its FREE…
“They deserve an award”
Brenda was so helpful prior to our trip. She is full of resources for travelers. Sorry brenda we stopped by to say hello but you were traveling that day. next time!
“Samara & Carrillo Info Center”
I agree with the other reviewers a thousand percent! Brenda and Chris are simply the best source in the Samara- Carrillo area! They are a great resource for any activities that you might want to check out not only in this area but the whole country. Brenda worked with us prior to coming to the trip and always responded quickly to any concerns that we had. We used their services from day one starting with the great ride that we had from Liberia airport. Brenda even helped us save money as she was able to find people to share the expenses for the Monteverde Cloud forest trip. Chris gave us good restaurant recommendations.We.were able to have a memorable, stressfree experience in Costa Rica thanks to Brenda and Chris!
“Samara Info Center was very helpful and wonderful”
I went to Costa Rica with a friend. We did five tours with Samara Info Center: Dolphin and snorkeling, Monteverde Day Tour, Turtle Watching tour, Arenal Volcano Tour and the kayaking tour. All of these tours exceeded our expectations. When booking the tours, Brenda was very helpful in helping us choose which tours we wanted to do. Once we had them chosen, she recommended the order and went ahead and booked them for us. The tour guide picked us up before the tour and then dropped us off after the tour. All of the guides were extremely nice and helpful. The Samara Info Center was the main reason that we had such a wonderful time in Costa Rica.
“Refreshingly helpful, honest & highly experienced !”
Chris & Brenda came highly recommended as a ‘portal’ to visit upon ourarrival in Samara. We could not have found a more helpful, friendly & experienced couple with their wealth of knowledge of the region & of the range of activities that Samara has to offer – all unbiased & backed by personal experience too!! They draw from their own extensive travel experience & take pride in ensure your own plans/requirements are fully understood before offering answers, options or solutions.to suit your exact needs. Chris, Brenda – Thank you so, so much for becomming an integral part of the wonderful experience we enjoyed in Samara, we hope to return & see you again soon.
“Fabulous service!!”
I could not have done it without them!! I strongly recommend Brenda to any traveler that is coming to the Samara- Carrillo area. She is fabulous! Knowledgeable, easy to work with, and extremely friendly. I am so thankful they provide this service – I only wish there was a Brenda in every place we visit!!
“Very Helpful and Friendly”
Samara & Carrillo Information Center staff were extremely nice, helpful, friendly, and responsive. They made great recommendations for activities in the region which helped make my stay an adventure.
“They’re all you need”
We met Brenda and Christopher at the beginning of our one-month stay in Samara, and we are very glad we did! They arranged all our tours, both far and wide, with speed and attention to detail and our specific wish lists. From multi-faceted tours to Volcan Arenal and the Monteverde cloud forest involving lots of stops and activities, to shuttle service to and from San Jose, to local tours of Samara Trails and nearby rivers and estuaries, these guys do it all with friendly finesse. They’re also a great source of information about what’s going on where in town – what restaurants have which specials on different nights of the week, who has the best happy hours, what cultural activities are happening where — they’ve got the pulse of Samara and Costa Rica well in-hand. They’re awesome.
“Super helpful & awesome people!”
We spent 2 weeks in the Samara/Carrillo area. Brenda and Christopher were very helpful – especially in the planning stages of our trip. They helped with everything from lodging, transportation, restaurant discounts, advice, etc. Plus they were so good at making us feel welcome (& they speak English, which was a big plus for my non-Spanish speaking husband… They are truly kind, helpful people and love helping others – making the Info Center exactly what it should be… a fun, welcoming place with lots of assistance. We LOVED our time in Samara and Playa Carrillo and hope to return again. My husband liked it so much, he’s talking about moving there! lol
“Your First Stop”
Being new to Samara, we were fortunate enough to accidentally find the Samara.Carrillo Info center which was across the street from our hotel, Hotel Restaurante Giada. Brenda and Chris, the proprietors, where simply OUTSTANDING. They both speak english, answered all our questions and made some great suggestions regarding our stay in Samara. We found out that they could help arrange the tours and necessary transportation and it’s important to note that we had to ask if they could assist since they don’t push any sales on their visitors. All activities and transportation went off without any glitches. If you visit Samara we would highly recommend a stop at the Samara.Carrillo Info center, hopefully making it your first stop if your new to Samara. When I travel I trust few people recognizing that many our simply out for the dollar. Believe me when I say Brenda and Chris earned my trust. Enjoy your travels: Mike and Susan
“Honest, friendly & free service”
Christopher is very helpful and makes you feel like you are at home in a foreign pllace. We have been looking for scuba diving trip in Samara, and we practically asked around every single info booth, but all of them said that only snorkeling is available in Samara. Christopher probably knows everyone in town, and he connected us with David who is also in ocean filming & diving in Samara. No service fee, and he quickly confirmed the scuba diving trip when we checked our email later on in the day. He would also give you good suggestions where to shop for groceries, free Spanish lesson, free movies and fun places to go. Highly recommend his service to anyone coming to Samara!
“Best People Ever”
Wandering in for some info and left an hour later with a new friend. You can travel the world over twice and not find as kind, fun, interesting people as those who run the Info Center!
“Samara vacation”
Thoroughly enjoyed our Samara vacation, made all the more stress free by Brenda and Chris at the Samara Info center. She was able to arrange several side trips for us, as well as arrange for our transportation to and from the airport. This came at no cost to us! Definitely recommend connecting with them if your ever in Samara, Costa Rica.
“Helpful & Friendly”
We stayed at Playa Samara for a couple of weeks. Since we don’t speak Spanish and this is our first visit to Costa Rica, we find ourselves constantly going back to the info center for guidance. Brenda and Christopher are the most friendly and helpful people you could ever find. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for help in tour booking, suggestions for things to do in the vicinity or across the country, where to go for a great local meal or info about Costa Rica in general, etc.. They helped us put together itinerary for the rest of our trip, call up hotels to help with reservation, check bus schedules and connections etc. I wouldn’t know what to do without them! Muchas Gracias!!
“Samara and Samara Info Centre”
Brenda knows everything and does her very best to find exactly what you want – every time!!!! Samara and Brenda go hand in hand of what you see and feel. Thank you Brenda!!!!
“First time to Costa Rica”
Brenda was all we needed. She arranged accommodations and transportation to fit my flight schedules to and from Costa Rica and contacts for fishing. Very helpful and a very upbeat lady.
“Samara Info Centre was the BEST!”
Brenda was AMAZING!! She even called us in our hotel in Playa Flamingo to ensure everything was okay, we booked a ziplining tour, a car and catamaran (her advice on the catamaran to find a smaller boat was sooo great!). They are well informed and as I said AMAZING SERVICE!!!
“Great peope, in depth regional knowledge and advice.”
My wife & I had the pleasure of corresponding and meeting Brenda and Chris. Both are very knowledgeable and friendly. When our taxi driver didn’t show up, Brenda quickly organized an alternate driver. We spent about 45 minutes at the info centre chatting and getting an in depth explanation about Costa Rica and it’s colourful/friendly people. Samara is an excellent place to start your Costa Rica travels, very friendly locals and ex-pat’s. If you want a quieter stay, closer to the beach; we would recommend the Samara Inn. It is reasonably priced, great chef and staff and is a 10 minute walk to the beach. Samara Inn is about a 15 minute walk to the town centre and there is an excellent grocery store and cafe, less than 5 minutes away. We preferred being closer to the locals as opposed to the hoards of tourists. Yev & Valentyna
“Super information centre!”
I have an excellent experience dealing with Brenda through email before arriving to Samara. She had given me a good advise regarding car rental and transportation options to the coast. While in Samara, we stopped at the information centre to meet Brenda and Christopher, and get more ideas about day trips and excursions. They are wonderful people, and provide an excellent service to the new travelers and to the community. We had a great one week in the area and hope to return!
“A diamond in the rough!”
What a concept, have a friendly, helpful and well informed Brenda set up trips, tours, and accommodations for FREE! She’d take care of all the details and even give us help on organizing realistic travel routes while in Samara and throughout our vacation. If not for Brenda we’d have never discovered the Koss art gallery! Thanks again Brenda for all your help!
“Excellent arrangements for trip to Nicaragua”
Brenda and Chris were fantastically helpful in helping us arrange a side trip to Granada. They helped book the tickets, gave us directions regarding the border crossing and made arrangements to leave our big luggage in Costa Rica at a hotel in Liberia. After booking a shuttle for us, they were super accommodating when we changed our plans after meeting two other travellers in their office. They made all the changes and booked us a private shuttle. The Tica bus tour of Granada they booked for us was great. It was an economical way to visit Nicaragua for the first time. The accommodations and tours, as well as all transportation to and from, was included in one price. Thanks for making this part of our holiday so easy. If you are in Samara, stop in to see them, they will make your travel plans come together.
“Great people and information!”
Brenda and Christopher are awesome and took wonderful care of our Kayak tour reservation (awesome!) and our Interbus transportation to San Jose (not so awesome). Turns out that midroute Interbus demanded that I pay twice. Word of caution- Interbus=Labrones. It was great meeting you guys and hope to see you again! Thanks for the valuable information! John and Kathy
“Super friendly and excellent service”
I have had to change my bus ticket on several occasions, and Brenda has always given me first class service. I had the pleasure to meet with her once in the infocenter, and all the other meetings have been through email, but none the less, just as friendly and excellent!
“Roberto Carrillo”
I’m a local and I enjoy using the friendly and efficient services offered by Christofer and Brenda at the Samara Info Center. They have a wealth of combined experience and contacts that I have tapped into for trips and excursions in Costa Rica and in Nicaragua. …a Pura Vida service!
“Excellent, friendly, FREE service that helped get our guests to our wedding!”
When planning our wedding, I included Samara InfoCenter on our wedding website so that guests could use it to coordinate their travel and all their activities during their stay. The majority of our guests booked their transportation from the airport —they were even able to provide a safe, reliable driver to retrieve a bridesmaid from San Jose at 3 am— and to take advantage of the plethora of activities available in the Samara area, such as horseback riding, renting a dirt bike, surf lessons, trips to other destinations in CR, kayaking to Isla Chora, etc. They handled everything with a smile, and even included friendly notes as a personal touch when communicating with guests.
“Friendly faces that will help you plan your travels!”
I was attending the Samara Language school with my brother. I stopped by to talk to Christopher a couple times. He helped me plan weekend excursions, and a longer trip. He had no qualms about me hanging out for a while reading brochures, guidebooks, and other research they had. He was also able to book us a car for cheaper than we could ourselves. Don’t be shy! They’re super helpful and all they asked was to write a trip advisor review–sorry that took so long, Chris! Thanks again, Gardner+Sam
“Wonderful info center–so helpful!”
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Christo was so unbelieveably helpful and informative. My boyfriend and I stayed 3 nights in Samara and though we did not do any guided tours or attractions there, the information center was so helpful. We used the center to help book our bus ride to Montezuma. Without them it would have been a disaster! Everywhere else in town wanted to charge us $100 a person to get from Samara Beach to Montezuma, and that was way out of our budget. Christo was so helpful though, he kept his eyes and ears out for us and hooked us up with 6 others travelers to Montezuma. This cut our cost in 6ths, and was so appreciated. They are both so knowledgeable about the area, and Costa Rica in general. I would have loved to book an activity or tour through them as I am sure it would have been a wonderful experience. Overall they go out of their way to help travelers with whatever needs/questions they may have. They even called hotels in San Jose for us to book our last night before out departure! And they have a whiteboard out front where you can post for rideshares/rooms shares etc. Thanks a bunch you guys, Pura Vida!
“Service with a smile!”
We stopped by the little info center several times during our visit to Samara and Brenda and Chris were so wonderful. Actually, I had emailed a few times before we left home, always receiving a quick and helpful reply. They also book tours, make restaurant or massage reservations and share thoughts on best places to shop or visit. I wish i had stopped by on the first day to get some of the discount coupons for local restaurants. It is located near the laundromat as you enter Main street from either Nicoya or Carrillo. Tell Brenda and Chris we said hi when you go!
“Extremely Helpful!”
Brenda and Christopher helped me and 5 other women in our group to arrange airport transfers, cabs, adventures, restaurants, tips and even groceries. They went above and beyond offering to help us with any of our needs – including transaling – day or night. I would highly recommend them!
“Wonderful help”
The Samara Carillo Info Center is a hidden gem on the Pacific coast of CR south of Tamarindo. The couple that run this place are angels in disgiuse. They are genuinely helpful, generous of their time and a great pleasure to spend time with. I commend them to you.
“Made our vacation easy”
Brenda helped us with a private to and from the airport. Chris helped make arrangements for various excursions. He pointed us in the right direction every time. The Samara & Carrillo Info Center was very helpful. They are very nice and informative. We loved Samara and can’t wait to go back.
“Very helpful.”
We stopped in here several times during our week long visit to Samara. The folks here are always very friendly, very helpful and informative. Go here to get your questions answered!
“THE BEST PLACE TO BOOK ANYTHING!!!!!”
The Samara & Carrillo Info Center is still the very best place to book a tour, a hotel or hostel, a dinner out or even a dental appointment!!!! I first met Brenda and Christopher in December 2011 during my first visit to beautiful Samara. Planning to return the next winter for a longer stay, they assisted me in finding an apartment. Seeing them again has been great and they continue to provide the very best service for any tourists’ needs. Wishing the Samara & Carrillo Info Center continued success…you are a great asset to the businesses of Samara and Carrillo!!!
“Very Helpful”
My sister was living in Samara for a few months and had planned some excursions with Brenda at the info center. She and gave me Brenda’s email address when I was starting to plan a trip to Costa Rica. She was very helpful and kind in helping us plan our trip. She made suggestions and booked all of our hotels for our entire trip. We stayed at Hotel Los Lagos in La Fortuna, El Viandante in Santa Elena, and Costa Verde in Manuel Antonio. They were all great selections! We were able to do it all by email. It was so nice to work with a local who has been to many of these locations herself or who knows people who have been there.
“Very helpful for Anything!”
So nice! Christopher was very helpful and genuine. He made many suggestions for us. He hooked us up with wing nuts canopy tours. That was the best experience ever! He also helped us find massages.
“They will help you with ANYTHING!”
The couple that operates this service on the main road just as you enter town are incredibly helpful. They book tours, arrange transportation, but can also help with anything a traveler needs. There could not be two more helpful people out there.
“They make it seem so simple”
Whatever you want and even some things you didn’t know you wanted, they are there with the resources. They will take care of everything with just a quick phone call, and never bat an eye when you change your mind (many times! yes, it’s Karen & Emily here!). They are very centrally located on the main street just across from the Hotel Giada, so there really is no reason not to visit them first thing when you arrive. Believe me, it will really enhance your stay in Playa Samara. Thank you Brenda and Chris for all you did for us during our week in Playa Samara.
“Amazing resource, amazing people”
Christopher and Brenda are fanatastic people. The Samara Info Center is a geat addition to Samara. Make a point of visiting them early in your trip ! They will make dinner reservations for you, they can rent you a cell phone, a car or or a horse! They can organize shuttles, a taxi, anything.
“This is the FIRST place you should go in Samara.”
It’s not that easy to find and that’s a shame. It should be festooned with banners and a big glowing arrow that says Samara’s Ambassadors of Hospitality. But don’t let the modest little room fool you. Brenda and Chris are a wealth of info, suggestions, and Costa Rica laid back charm. We were referred to them by our rental house host and I wish I had found them earlier in the week. They set up two trips for us on the wonderful Palo Verde boat tour and the Werner Sauter Biological Reserve nature hike. And when my stubborn “had to drive myself” got lost in the back woods of Cost Rica on the way to the boat tour, Brenda guided me to the location over the cell phone herself. Chris is a great enthusiastic resource for what live music is playing in the town each night and they both have plenty of restaurant suggestions with discount cards. They both clearly love Samara and what they do. And rather then a job, it seemed more like they were having fun to me. And that’s just plain awesome.
“Unbelievable service”
Brenda and Dave are fabulous. They go out of their way to help you. Their advice is spot on and they provide all their help with a smile and patience! Do drop in to ask your questions. They will find the best hotel, book your rental, answer our questions and just chat. They love their job and Samara!
“Yes! Yes! Yes!”
I was lucky enough to spend the entire month of December in Samara. Brenda and the crew at the Info Center made everything infinitely easier. Not only are they great for recommending things around the area, every tour I booked with them was exceptional. I cannot recommend the Rio Verde tour enough. It was worth every penny, breathtaking and leisurely. If you shop around you will find their tours are the perfect price point, and in my opinion the best value. You also leave with a feeling that you have been talking to a friend who is trying to genuinely point you in the right direction, as opposed to someone just trying to sell you a package and make their commission. I travel frequently, and what makes this place so special is how rare it is to find someone this ethical. It is very unique to find an honest place like this where your experience is priority to the money they will make.
“Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!”
I was having no luck in finding a hotel for our upcoming trip and sent an email to the Info Center. Brenda responded immediately and found several options for our trip to Samara. She actually made the reservations for us and confirmed with the hotel. We stayed at Rancho De La Playa and the accommodations were excellent. We stopped by the Info Center while in Samara and chatted with Brenda. If you are planning a visit, make contact with the Info Center before the trip!!! They are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
“Knowledgeable, friendly, extremely helpful!”
Your first visit to Samara? Make the Visitor Center your first stop and talk to Brenda and/or Chris! They are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and will answer questions you didn’t even know you had. And don’t forget to pick up some coupons, such as for free drinks at Lo Que Hay on the beach!
“Thanks !!”
Brenda was a big help, both when booking hotels in Samara as well as finding the perfect tour for us
“Samara Info-Center !!!”
Brenda and Chris are very helpful in al cases. Very good knowlege on Samara and surrounding areas. Thanks again for the dogs. Best wishes from Germany, Susan
“START HERE FIRST !!!”
Brenda and Chris are the best ! The information they have is not only for sight seeing or tours. They have information about ANYTHING you will need. Things to do, places to eat, directions, advice, important phone numbers etc. You name it, they either know it or will find out for you ! They are just a great support and just plan fun ! Whether you are in the area for a day, a week or to live, make sure you stop by and introduce yourself. Chris and Brenda are Invaluable ! Thank you so much for all your help and support ! Jo and Max
“Very Helpful”
Chris and Brenda at the info centre are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable of the area. All of the recommendations they gave us were excellent definitely should be your first stop once you arrive in Samara.
“So helpful”
We loved talking to Chris, we only wish we had found him sooner in our visit, but even toward the end of our visit in Samara, he was sooo helpful. Seemed already like a good friend and he knows soooo much! Looking forward to returning and connecting again.
“Fantastic Service”
Brenda and Chris were so helpful. They are a huge source of help and advice and I couldn’t have planned my trip without them. Nothing was too much trouble for them and also there is nothing they don’t know about getting around Costa Rica. If you are planning a trip to the area look on their Facebook page or email – they will be so helpful.
“Great information!”
Stopped in to ask questions and Brenda and Christopher were very helpful. They hooked us up with a turtle tour that night that was simply amazing! Keep up the good work!
“Outstanding Service”
Brenda (as well as her husband) are the two in charge here, and honestly, I would be lost without the two of them. They know how to get you all around Costa Rica as well as Central America. They can set you up with Tica bus tickets (which has proven to be very difficult in other parts of Costa Rica), point you in the right direction of a suitable hotel for your needs, and hook you up with great adventures….and have always done so in such a kindly manner. Any questions about the area should be directed at them. They were such a huge help in my six months in the Samara area. Spanish and English available. One should look them up on Facebook as well, they are always posting any specials, happy hours, community info, ride shares, etc in the area.
“Wealth of information”
Excellent source of info on for the area. From bus schedules to restaurants, tours, maps. If you have a question Chris will have the answer.
“Fantastic Service”
The Management are so helpful. Very knowledgeable on Samara and surrounding areas. Great Service & advise. Would use again for other trips.
“This Place is Great!!”
The owners of the info center are the best. They know Costa Rica!! They have helped us with everything from getting a great place by the airport in San Jose to going and topping up our SIM card. They are working to make Samara a better place for everyone!! Thanks Brenda and Chris for all your help.
“Always helpful and generous”
My family and I spent three months in Samara over the summer. It was a fantastic, life-changing time. While we got to know Samara like locals after a good amount of time there, Brenda and Chris at the info center remained a massively helpful resource. Bottom line is that no matter how random or significant need that you have, Brenda and Chris will put in great effort to help you — regardless of whether there is a chance for them to ultimately get compensated for their work. Whether you are staying in Samara for a week or for several months, I highly recommend dropping by the info center office when you get to town.
“Questions?”
Great supply of information regarding the area and all of Costa Rica! Brenda is very knowledgeable and can help you design a touring itinerary or help you choose activities.
“They Know what’s going on”
Want to get the right feel for Playa Samara & Carrillo, then stop by and say hello. S & C Infocenter truly cares about their community and will make sure that you experience the Pura Vida that is Costa Rica.
“these guys are great!”
brendas and christopher are two of the most friendly and helpful people you will ever meet, and will help you book anything you need for free, as well as point you in the right direction if you have any questions about samara and the surrounding area.
“Info Center!!”
The Info Center is really the center of all that is going on in Samara. Brenda and Chris can help with all areas of trip planning and as a great bonus are super friendly and nice. They helped book a turtle tour for me and my Mom that was fantastic. They also helped us figure out the bus schedule, so we were able to get on the right bus, going in the right direction. What I like best is that they are full of information regarding trip possibilites and are great at recommending ideas. My husband communicates with them on facebook and they always respond very quickly. The Samara info center and Brenda and Chris are super helpful when planning a trip to this area and when you visit at their office you can meet their cute little dog.
“Super Friendly, Super Helpful!”
These folks will answer just about any question or find the answer if they can’t. They are genuinely interested in making your experience to Samara and to Costa Rica a fun and charming experience. Brenda and Chris also organize efforts to help with local causes like supplies for those left homeless after the earthquake, toys/gifts collection for the children during Christmas, and more. A great couple worth meeting!
“Very helpful, knowledgable and very friendly”
I first contacted via the internet about a place to stay during our trip in May. Brenda gave me many options within our price range. Everything I had asked for in a hotel she was able to find. I was a little nervous about reserving a place without having to see it. When I arrived at our hotel it was much better then I had expected. What a great place for the money. We had originally planned on staying 3 nights but we extended our visit to 8 nights. When we went down to meet Brenda and Christopher they were both so nice and told us things to do in the area. I felt so confident with what they had done for us that I had Brenda arrange our next trip in December with hotel and transportation. She made planning for our next trip a lot less stressful.
“Very Helpful”
Great advice and really helped make out trip! There are tons of information on all kinds of tours and trips. The couple that runs the place are so helpful. If you are in the area you should pop in.
“Warm, Friendly, and So Very Helpful!!”
This information center made me feel like everything would be just perfect. My young daughter and I arrived in Samara not knowing much. We had booked a room before we left the U.S. at a place that turned out to be moldy and the grounds smelled like dog urine. I just couln’t stay there another night. I stopped at Samara Info Center and asked if they could recommend a room that fit my budget. They said yes, no problem. They were friendly, kind, and efficient and they found us a wonderful place for only $5 more than the last place and it was beautiful, clean, friendly, the best compared to the previous place. We went back almost daily to book tours, and ask questions. Christopher and Brenda went well beyond their line of duty. Brenda took a lot of time with me and didn’t ask for a penny. I felt safe knowing they were there to help me. They are truly kind compassionate people. Also Brenda speaks both fluent Spanish and English. Wonderful!!
“so friendly and informative!!”
Brenda and Chris were great! They know so much about the area and were great at giving directions to destinations, including side trips we would never have known about. If you have ANY questions about Samara, these are the people to ask. They are eager to help and experts on so many aspects of the area. I can’t say enough good things about the friendly, knowledgeable service available at the info center! They definitely helped make the trip great!
“Nicest people!”
We got off of the public bus and the infocenter was right beside us. We were immediately greeted by the welcoming smile of Christopher. He had the answers to all of our questions and even recommended a great place to stay for our budget. We felt so welcome, that we went back there every day during our 4 day stay! He set up my surf lessons with an amazing instructor, he talked about the local life of Samara, and always offered to help us in any way. It was a real pleasure talking to him every day! We hope to see him again soon!
“First stop in Samara”
Chris and Brenda are wonderful! They arranged for a taxi for us to and from Samara from the airport, and booked all of our activities while in Samara. They are very knowledgeable about the area and can answer questions, make recommendations or anything else you may need. A must for your first stop in Samara!
“They were honest!”
They printed out a bus schedule for the local bus, and told us what we SHOULD be paying for local cab rides. I should have stopped there before paying $10.00 for a cab to Carrillo. We should’ve paid only $6.00!!
“A must to stop at if you visit Samara”
I have never written a review for an Info Center before, but I was so impressed with Brenda and Christopher and what they had to offer. They are the most helpful people and go above and beyond to help you with what ever you want and more. If you visit Samara make sure to stop by and see them. I wish more Info Centers worked the way S&C Info Center does.
“Best free information I’ve ever come across”
This place is just wonderful. For absolutely no charge, Chris and Brenda were TREMENDOUSLY helpful. We wanted to find a small apartment near town, and he gave us the name of three different real estate agents. He had advice on living cheaply. They gave us a excellent restaurant reviews. We had bought a CR cell phone and he helped us decipher the Costa Rican phone system. Chris sat and talked with us for long time about Nicaragua. The Info Center also offers cards – for free, of course – that get you discounts at many local business. Make sure to pick up a few. If you are staying in Samara for ANY length of time, your first stop should be here. They will orientate you and tip you off to the best way to do just about anything.
“One of the best parts of my trip”
I am so grateful that my daughter told me about Brenda and the Samara & Carrillo Info Center. Brenda was wonderfully helpful, friendly, and dependable – I feel like we are now old friends! She was patient with my many questions and pointed me in the right direction every time. This was my first trip to Costa Rica and Brenda made me feel secure with all the decisions that needed to be made. I wanted an adventure and Brenda knew exactly where to send me for zip lining, kayaking, snorkeling, or just a yummy meal. She not only handled my visit to Samara but also arranged transportation/lodging/and the fun stuff throughout Costa Rica via Arenal/La Fortuna and back to San Jose. Largely due to her friendliness and professionalism, my trip was just as special as I’d hoped it would be.
“Very helpful.”
It is right in the middle of Samara Beach so it is easy to access. They have a lot of info and are kind.
“Samara Info Center is the best way to start your trip to Samara!”
A huge thanks to Christopher and Brenda for all their amazing help while we were in Samara. Your excellent suggestions on good places to eat allowed me to have the best pizza and Thai food I’ve ever had anywhere! Thanks so much for arranging our tours. We had the best time in Samara and that was largely because of all your help!!! I recommend all folks heading to that area and Costa Rica in general to consult with these folks. They have a great handle on the area. T+K, Bermuda
“wonderful resource”
What a great addition to Samara! Brenda has info about everything you could possibly need, and she is sooooo friendly and helpful. She arranged many tours for my friend who was traveling throughout Costa Rica. Her little office is cheerful and filled with brochures.
“Friendly and Helpful”
Brenda and Christopher were so friendly and helpful to us. When you have any questions about, hotels, restaurants, tours, roads, don’t hesitate and go to the info center, they will help you! They were a great help for us!
“Great Resource”
Went down to Samara to look at some property and Brenda was extremely helpful in coordinating my stay. She provided me with the directions I needed, including guiding me to a remote mountain location in a rainstorm from her cell phone in San Jose. She also recommended and confirmed my stay at the Samara Palm Lodge on the spot. Extremely helpful.
“Samara info center”
We booked a vacation centered around Samara and had a great time. The area was a bit less touristy than other areas of CR we visited and provided the perfect environment to relax in. This was in part due to the helpful support from Brenda and Christopher from the Samara & Carrillo Info Center. Brenda was available by email prior to our trip and by phone or in person once we arrive in CR. Christopher was actually watching our hotel while owners we away. The both helped us get there, plan, book a few excursions and deal with a few unexpected changes in plans and enjoy our visit more. I would also like to say that they both helped in direct response to our needs and questions and did not push anything we did not ask for. I can’t say enough about the support they provided.
“Get the Info you Need with a Smile”
Located right at the entrance to Samara, this should be your first stop to find out what is going on in town. Brenda seems to know everyone and everything going on here. Good place to plan your visit with tours or just tips on the best places to eat. All you questions will be answered with a smile and enthusiasm. Thanks for everything Brenda!
“Best there is”
Chris and Brenda were absolutely helpful, friendly and warm. Very special people. Always ready with answers to any questions with a smile on their faces. They know an incredible amount on Samara and what there is to do. They can offer, advise or book any trip or adventure for you and make sure you get the best. When one of our bookings with them fell through (absolutely no fault of theirs) they went out of their way to make sure it was fixed and Chris even drove us to the rendezvous himself just because they care. If you go to Samara, please stop and see Chris and Brenda. It will be the best thing you could do to make sure you have a great time there.
“The go to place for info and excursion bookings!”
Brenda is awesome. She can let you know what excursions are available, what sites you cant miss while in Samara, and takes care of setting up all the bookings for you! Just exchange emails with her or your phone number and she will get back to you in no time with all the details. She is located right in Samara down from Century 21.
“Samara info center is awesome !!!”
Brenda is awesome…before i was even in Samara she helped me locate my hotel owner, then upon arrival she gave us discount cards good at many of the bars and restaurants. She always said hi when i saw her and always was helpful when i needed info…if she doesn’t know, she will find out. The day i was leaving my bus was very late and she offered to call the terminal and did…of course the bus was late. BRENDA, THANKS FOR YOUR HELP AND BEST WISHES FROM ME! Vincent Sedlmeyer
“Very Helpful!”
Samara Info Center was the first place I went in Samara. They helped me get a great hostel right on the beach at a very good price, on a busy Friday afternoon. They also advised me on local events, such as the toros at Nosara la playa. They go above and beyond to help connect the community. A great resource!
“Far above and beyond the ordinary information center, owners Chris and Brenda reached out and helped multiple times.”
Besides giving me helpful information on places to stay, restaurant recommendations, and discussing volunteer programs in the area, Chris personally drove me to the airport when it became clear that no transportation other than taxis would be available that day. I can’t say enough about the genuine caring these two people, Chris and Brenda, show towards the tourists and the townspeople of Samara Beach.
“Helpful”
Very helpful and friendly! Always went their with any questions I had.
“Accurate information from a friendly team.”
Brenda and Chris go out of their way to give accurate information needed to make the best travel/excursion decisions. They have plenty of knowledge about the surrounding areas and understand the Costa Rican way of life. They can give you several different options to choose from. Whatever your budget they will set you up. They yearn to share their love of Costa Rica and her beauty with all! This truly shines through in their services. Don’t forget to ask for the discount card.
“Pura Vida”
My husband and I had the opportunity to visit many places for our honeymoon Samara, Costa Rica being one of them. With lots of research and help from a family a friend, we chose to make this our honeymoon destination. Our first night there was one of many emotions to say the least. We flew into San Jose, CR on a Friday morning, rented a car and drove 5 hours to Samara, Playa Carrillo to be specific. Saturday morning was the beginning of what we look back on as the best week of our lives together as newly weds. We drove into town looking for things to do, and to our surprise met a young lady by the name of Brenda who quickly put together an itinerary of “must haves” while in Samara, CR. She is the owner of a company, Samara Infocenter which I commend on it’s value to Samara. For people not speaking Spanish or knowing nothing about the town of Samara, this is an exceptional way to dig right in and make yourself at home. She was eager to make sure we left having had the best experience, and went the extra mile to make sure we were happy. She followed through on everything she said she would, she made sure we got the best deals offered and most importantly, her love and passion for her town is what stuck with us the most. Because of her and her husband, we made LIFE long friends and will be returning to what we call “Pura Vida” in the next year. We encourage EVERYONE to visit as it was a life changing event for us. If you have ANY questions, Brenda is only a email away. She’d love to make your trip one you talk about for a lifetime!!!!
“Christmas in Samara”
i had the good fortune to return to Costa Rica for my 9th visit.. this trip i stayed primarily in the Samara area . Samara has something for everyone depending on what you like to do and it is my favorite place to go in Costa Rica .i spent 9 days on the beach relaxing and just enjoying the beauty and life all round me.while i was there i spent time every day at the Samara Info Center on Main st. right when you enter town. What a variety of questions got asked there every day by people visiting Samara and Brenda and Chris made sure no question or request went unanswered and whatever help needed was given to help visitors have a great stay. A lot of people came thru unsure of what info they needed for various things and after spending a short time at the info center with Brenda they were quite at ease and more comfortable. 2 thumbs up from me to Samara Info Center.
“Wish we knew about them before we booked with the other guys!”
After already booking our trip to Costa Rica with another company my boyfriend met Brenda on a outing to Samara. Although we were having a fun time in Costa, we wanted to stay in another hotel ( our’s was filled with ants and mosquitoes) for our last couple nights. Brenda showed us brochures from nearby hotels that were in our price range (inexpensive). Chris was even kind enough to drive us around (we looked at four ) till we found the perfect little charming boutique hotel ” The Samara Palm Lodge” to spend our last bug free nights in. Samara-info Center even booked our transport to the airport on a shuttle which saved us $145 over the private shuttle we took on our arrival. I have to mention that every hotel we looked at that night Chris was met with absolute warmth and kindness from every manager/owner. They are extremely knowledgeable about the in’s and out of Costa Rica for tours, hotels and so much more! We are definitely contacting them for our next trip and hope this will help others!
“More then helpful”
Was staying outside of Samara at a cute but rustic place, while walking around the town of Samara we found the cute couple and their dog at a table near the end of town. After chatting with them about what we had done for fun(surfing, zip lining, the cab fare from the airport) we mentioned that we wanted a really nice to stay i the last night of our trip. We browsed the book of hotels Brenda had on the table and picked 3 to go look at. We jumped in Chris’s car and he showed each one we liked plus a whole house that a friend of his had. After not falling in love with any of them, Chris thought of one more the Samara Palm Lodge (it was perfect). We checked in the next night and had a great night’s sleep and had a great continental breakfast in the morning and the airport shuttle (which was cheaper but took longer then a cab). If you need anything in Samara definitely look up the SAMARA INFO CENTER! Pura Vida!
“Such a nice couple that are very helpful”
We randomly walked into the Samara info center when we were in Samara in January, and I must say that Chris & Brenda were some of the most helpful people I met on my 3 week trip to Costa Rica. I asked them many questions about many different things and they could answer everyone. The best part about their service is that I found they were not trying to sell you anything, they were just trying to help. It would have been very easy for them to sell me their own shuttle service and make a big commission, however they gave me all the options available to me and even mentioned if I did not want to spend a lot, I could take a public bus and laid out how easy it truly was for me. I was very impressed at how nice this couple is and would recommend them to anyone traveling to or who are in Samara. PS, Pick up one of their discount cards, they are great…And try Cafe Esmeralda.
“They Have ALL the Answers!”
Samara & Carrillo Info Center is fantastic! Not only are they set-up in town to talk to in person, but you can friend them on Facebook (Samara InfoCenter) and always stay connected! Brenda and her team are extremely helpful… They can help with tours, transportation, restaurant recommendations and so much more! From yoga schedules to happy hour specials, you will find everything you need with Samara & Carrillo Info Center! “The Samara and Carrillo Info Center just felt like home away from home.”
Meeting Brenda and Christopher at the Samara and Carrillo Info Center was like meeting long lost friends. I was travelling solo in Costa Rica last November (2011) and had picked Samara just off the map….I couldn’t have found a more magical place, and the Info Center was a big part of that. They have vast knowledge of the area and its history, and helped me with everything from selecting tours, suggesting restaurants, points of interest, and even provided a ride to a local dentist. They were always so welcoming, as was their adorable little dog, Lillie, and checking in with them daily just made me feel like part of the wonderful village of Samara! I look forward to returning to visit my new friends!! Marilyn D. from Vancouver, BC, Canada
“I used this service often!”
The Samara and Carrillo Info Center is a great new business in Samara that helps locals and tourists alike get shuttles, find out what is happening where and navigate Samara and Carrillo tourist sites! It is located at a cute little booth right in the center of town and they also have a Facebook page that helps you get set info and even contact them! They arranged a shuttle for me to the airport just on Facebook with a great, reliable and on-time driver! Their staff is friendly and courteous and always go the extra mile. I highly recommend stopping by or checking out their Facebook page for updates and information. Best of all, it’s free!!
“These guys are awesome!”
Super helpful and friendly. We needed private surf lessons with a female instructor for our daughter. Samara Info Center found us an amazing instructor and had everything set up. Thanks for adding a ton of FUN to our trip.
“Muchas gracias!”
